What is the “standard” Passport?

Standard passport; is the type of passport issued to Turkish citizens who meet certain conditions by the Turkish Ministry of Interior, authorized governorships or Turkish consulates. It is burgundy in color, so it is also known as the “burgundy passport”. Burgundy passport holders can directly enter visa-free destinations with their passports. The burgundy passport consists of 38 pages and the visas issued are processed on this passport. It can be given to cover the period from 6 months to 10 years according to the demand.

How to Get the Burgundy Passport?

If you have completed the necessary conditions and documents for obtaining the standard passport, you can apply to the local directorate with or without an appointment. You can also booked the appointment online. Those who are in foreign countries can apply through the consulate where they are registered. Persons who apply for a passport must apply in person, regardless of age.

Documents Required for the Burgundy Passport

If you want to apply for the burgundy passport, you must complete the following documents.
• origin of identity card or temporary identity document
• Fee and wallet fee receipt (Students under the age of 25 are exempt from fees)
• 2 biometric photos
• Student certificate not exceeding 60 days (Special requirement for students who want to obtain a burgundy passport)
• Certificate of consent for minors or persons with disabilities
• Old passport, if you have any

What is a Temporary Passport (Pink Passport)?

Temporary passport or pink passport is a travel document that Turkish citizens abroad can obtain from Turkey’s foreign representatives (consulates). Temporary passports are issued to be valid for 1 month in cases such as passport loss, passport expiration and deportation. Temporary passport, which can be issued according to the assessment to be made by the Turkish embassy in similar emergencies; is pink in color, it is a single page and is taken back from you as soon as you enter Turkey.

Where to Get a Temporary Passport?

The temporary passport is obtained from the Turkish embassies in the country you are in. In case of loss, theft or damage of diplomatic passport (black passport), standard passport (burgundy passport), special passport (green passport) or service passport (gray passport), you can apply for this passport type -if your application is deemed appropriate- by applying to foreign representative offices.

How to Get a Temporary Passport?

In order to apply for a temporary passport due to loss or theft, you must first go to the police department responsible for your region and get a “missing report” for your passport. You can then apply for a temporary passport to the Turkish embassy with your police report and identity document.
